Author Guidelines

Ipso Jure is a peer-reviewed, open access international journal dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of rule of law. We welcome original research articles in English or Bahasa Indonesia. Below are the guidelines for preparing and submitting manuscripts.

General Requirements

  1. Originality: Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere (including journals, books, or other media in any language).
  2. Scope: Manuscripts must align with the journal’s focus and scope, which covers topics related to the rule of law.
  3. Language: Articles may be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia. Non-Indonesian authors may submit in English only.
  4. Word Count: The main content of the article (excluding bibliography) should be 3,000–5,000 words.
  5. Template: Manuscripts must follow the Ipso Jure article template, available for download HERE.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should include the following sections:

  1. Title: Concise and descriptive, written in English and Bahasa Indonesia (for Indonesian authors).
  2. Abstract: 150–250 words, summarizing the research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Provide abstracts in both English and Bahasa Indonesia (English only for non-Indonesian authors).
  3. Keywords: 3–5 keywords in English and Bahasa Indonesia to aid discoverability.
  4. Introduction: Background, research problem, and objectives.
  5. Method: Description of research methodology, including data collection and analysis.
  6. Results and Discussion: Presentation and analysis of findings, supported by relevant literature.
  7. Conclusion: Summary of key findings and their implications.
  8. References: List all cited sources, formatted according to the journal’s citation style (see below).

Citation and Bibliography

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use citation management software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote) for citations and bibliographies, except for primary legal materials.
  • Follow the journal’s citation style as outlined in the template.
  • Ensure all cited sources are included in the bibliography, and all references are accurate and complete.

Ethical Requirements

Ipso Jure adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. Authors must:

  • Ensure the manuscript is original and free of plagiarism. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.
  • Disclose all co-authors in the submission metadata, including their contributions to the manuscript (e.g., conceptualization, data analysis, writing).
  • Declare any potential conflicts of interest (e.g., financial or personal relationships that could influence the research).
  • Acknowledge any funding sources supporting the research.
  • For manuscripts derived from conference papers, theses, or dissertations, authors must:
    • Disclose the origin of the manuscript in the submission.
    • Ensure the manuscript has been substantially revised to warrant publication as an original article.

Open Access and Licensing

All articles published in Ipso Jure are freely accessible under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). Authors retain full copyright and grant Ipso Jure the right to publish the article as an open access work. No copyright transfer is required.

Submission Process

  1. Submit manuscripts via the Ipso Jure Open Journal System (OJS).
  2. Include all co-author details in the submission metadata.
  3. Ensure the manuscript adheres to the journal’s template and guidelines.
  4. Manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening, followed by a double-blind peer review process (see Publication Process for details).
  5. Authors may be required to revise their manuscript based on reviewer feedback. Revisions must be submitted within the specified timeframe (typically 2–4 weeks).

  • Manuscripts derived from conference papers or theses/dissertations are eligible for consideration if they have been significantly revised and their origin is disclosed.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of citations and compliance with the journal’s formatting requirements.
